Art Sale for Assata’s Daughters
Juneteenth Capsule

Juneteenth this year falls in the midst of revolution and awakening. We find ourselves called to action in ways that have required re-examining our skill sets and practices into which we have been conditioned. Chicago Art for Black Futures was inspired by a spirit of collective economies—calling upon friendships and cultivated relationships to come together and respond to the present moment.

This Juneteenth capsule creates space to honor the beauty and resilience of Black life. Each artist reflects upon their particular experience. Though personal, they all speak to the unfathomable expansiveness of Blackness. Today, and everyday, we celebrate that strength, that liberation, and that unique creativity. - Adia Sykes
